On this episode of the podcast, Gabbi asks the question, what does LGBTQIA+ healthcare involved, why is it important to learn about and how do we advocate for our patients? Our expert Dr Asiel Adan Sanchez is here to answer all of these questions and more. Dr Asiel is a non-binary doctor, writer and advocate. Asiel is a member of Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine and the Australian Professional Association for Transgender Health. Their clinical practice encompasses primary care, HIV medicine, gender-affirming care and mental health, making them an expert on todays learning in medicine topic! Tune in to find out all the key parts of LGBTQIA+ healthcare, discrimination and advocacy on a patient and population level. 

Outside of their clinical roles, Asiel is a poet and creative writer. Asiel’s writing has been featured at the National Young Writers Festival, The Emerging Writers Festival, the Queensland Poetry Festival and The Next Big Thing at The Wheeler Centre. Their first book, m/ /otherland was highly commended for best poetry collection at the Victorian Premiers’ Literary Awards.
